Ode to HS2

Oyez Oyez Oyez

Gather ye round for a tale of home`ly
For your leaders have lied to the people of Kings Bromley

For that train it may cometh at great speed and great height
To destroy our fair town and create massive blight.

It will come like the devil out of the night
Running on rails creating great fright

Screaming and
rumbling as it travels our land
At great noise and some stress like a very loud rock band

I remember my Sundays peaceful no strife
Gardens and children and all loving life

Cometh the beast 250 miles an hour
And Sundays were over with the noise of that power.

Onwards it moves through all that it sees
Destroying environment all wildlife and trees

Swallowing farms houses and land
As the faceless HS2 employees show their hand

This high speed rail that has no reason to live
Given life by our leaders but has nothing to give

There is no business plan that experts can see
And no money to build and no reason to be

A thing for the few at great cost to them all
1500 per home and no benefit at all.

So join us now and come show your hand
To stop this great folly destroying our land

To stop HS2 by all legal means
Says we have the moral high ground and no problems it seems

They have more resource whilst we have none
We need your help to get this train gone

We can then stop our worry and stress on our lives
And think of the future our children and wives.
