HS2AA opposes HS2 because we believe...
1. HS2 is a waste of money and the wrong priority
2. The business case is flawed
3. HS2 can't cure the North South divide
4. There are better alternatives to improving our railways
5. The environmental case for HS2 has collapsed
HS2 is a very weak response to the challenge of developing our transport infrastructure, supporting economic growth and creating jobs. There are much more effective ways to invest our limited resources.
We oppose the HS2 High Speed Rail link, because the business case is based on unrealistic assumptions, the environmental impact has not been assessed, it is not green, the strategic benefits are questionable, and the money could be better spent on other things.
